The highest protein snacks at Costco are the ready-to-drink shakes: fairlife Core Power 42g (230 Calories, 42 g protein) and Premier Protein (160 Calories, 30 g protein), going by the brands’ own labels. For a food, Oikos Triple Zero Greek yogurt gives 15 g of protein for 90 Calories a cup, and a Think Jerky beef stick gives 8 g for 90 Calories.
The table below puts them side by side, with the source for every number.
Where do these Costco numbers come from?
Each figure is from either the Costco product page (costco.com) or the brand’s own product page, checked on 1 October 2026, for the serving printed on the label. Where Costco’s page did not show Calories, we used the brand page for the same product and flavour.
Costco’s range varies by country, region and warehouse, and pack sizes or recipes can change. Costco Canada may carry different versions with different labels. Always check the package in your cart.
Which Costco high protein snacks have the most protein per Calorie?

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Premier Protein Chocolate Shake | 1 shake (11.5 fl oz) | 160 | 30 | 18.8 | premierprotein.com |
| fairlife Core Power 42g Chocolate | 1 bottle (414 ml) | 230 | 42 | 18.3 | fairlife.com |
| Oikos Triple Zero Greek Nonfat Yogurt | 1 container (150 g) | 90 | 15 | 16.7 | costco.com |
| fairlife Core Power 26g Chocolate | 14 fl oz (414 ml) | 170 | 26 | 15.3 | fairlife.com |
| Quest Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bar | 1 bar (60 g) | 190 | 21 | 11.1 | questnutrition.com |
| Think Jerky Grass Fed Beef Stick, Original | 1 stick (1 oz) | 90 | 8 | 8.9 | costco.com |
Costco sells Core Power in multipacks and both a 26 g and 42 g version exist, so check which one your pack is before you log it. Premier Protein shakes at Costco can come in different sizes and flavours from the one above. The 11.5 fl oz chocolate shake is the version on Premier’s own page.
Costco’s page for Kirkland Signature Protein Bars lists 21 g of protein per 2.12 oz bar, but we could not see the Calories on it, so we left the bar out of the table. The box will tell you.
Are Costco protein shakes good for weight loss?
They can help you reach a protein target without many Calories, which is useful in a calorie deficit. A 160 Calorie shake with 30 g of protein is hard to match with most snack foods.
They are not magic, though. A shake is still Calories, and drinking two or three a day on top of your normal meals can push you over your target. Count them like any food. The protein calculator and our guide on how much protein per day help you decide how much you actually need.
Premier’s label also carries a note to use it as a food supplement only and not for weight reduction. Treat it as a snack, not a meal replacement.
What are good high protein foods at Costco beyond snacks?
Costco also sells plain high protein foods such as eggs, chicken breast, Greek yogurt in large tubs and cottage cheese. Labels vary a lot by brand and pack, so we have not listed figures we could not check on an official page.
For basic foods, our food pages give per serving figures from food composition data. See chicken breast and egg.
How do I build a high protein day from Costco snacks?
An example, added up from the table above:
| Time | Snack | Calories | Protein (g) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Morning | 1 Oikos Triple Zero yogurt | 90 | 15 |
| Afternoon | 1 Think Jerky beef stick | 90 | 8 |
| After the gym | 1 Premier Protein Chocolate Shake | 160 | 30 |
| Total | 340 | 53 |
That is 53 g of protein for 340 Calories before any main meals. Fit it into your daily total from the calorie deficit calculator.
Logging packaged snacks is quick because the label does the work. For mixed plates from the Costco food court or your kitchen, a photo in the photo calorie calculator gives a fast estimate, and Calo AI lets you correct it by voice or text.
How do I read a Costco protein label quickly?
Start with the serving size, because bulk packs often hold many servings and the headline protein figure is per serving, not per box. Then compare protein with Calories. A simple test is whether the protein in grams is at least a tenth of the Calories: 15 g of protein in 90 Calories passes easily, while a snack with 5 g of protein in 200 Calories does not.
Next, look at added sugars and, for bars, sugar alcohols and fibre. These do not make a product good or bad, but they explain why two bars with the same protein can feel very different. Finally, check the flavour and pack size match the version you logged, since Costco often sells multipacks that differ from the single items on a brand’s own site.
Safety note: if you have kidney disease, are pregnant, or are under 18, speak to a doctor or registered dietitian before raising your protein intake. Some shakes and bars contain sugar alcohols or sweeteners that upset some stomachs. Do not go below 1,200 Calories a day without medical supervision.
