The best Chipotle low calorie high protein bowl is chicken on lettuce with black beans, fajita veggies and two salsas: 375 Calories and 41 g of protein on Chipotle’s own nutrition calculator. If you want rice, chicken with brown rice, black beans, fajita veggies and fresh tomato salsa is 570 Calories with 45 g of protein.
Below are six orders under 600 Calories, the ingredient numbers behind them, and the toppings that quietly double a bowl.
Where do these Chipotle numbers come from?
Every figure here is from the Chipotle US nutrition calculator (chipotle.com), checked on 7 October 2026. We added up the standard portion of each ingredient. Chipotle lists most proteins, rice and beans as 4 oz portions.
Real bowls vary. The person on the line may give you a bigger or smaller scoop, and “extra” or “light” changes the total. Treat these as close estimates, not exact readings. Canadian figures are almost the same; the differences are listed further down.
How many calories are in each Chipotle bowl ingredient?
Standard portion, US calculator, checked 7 October 2026.
| Ingredient | Calories | Protein (g) | Carbs (g) | Fat (g) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chicken | 180 | 32 | 0 | 7 |
| Steak | 150 | 21 | 1 | 6 |
| Beef Barbacoa | 170 | 24 | 2 | 7 |
| Carnitas | 210 | 23 | 0 | 12 |
| Sofritas | 150 | 8 | 9 | 10 |
| White rice | 210 | 4 | 40 | 4 |
| Brown rice | 210 | 4 | 36 | 6 |
| Black beans | 130 | 8 | 22 | 2 |
| Pinto beans | 130 | 8 | 21 | 2 |
| Fajita veggies | 20 | 1 | 5 | 0 |
| Romaine lettuce | 5 | 0 | 1 | 0 |
| Fresh tomato salsa | 25 | 0 | 4 | 0 |
| Tomatillo-green chili salsa | 15 | 0 | 4 | 0 |
| Tomatillo-red chili salsa | 30 | 0 | 4 | 0 |
| Roasted chili-corn salsa | 80 | 3 | 16 | 2 |
| Cheese | 110 | 6 | 1 | 8 |
| Sour cream | 110 | 2 | 2 | 9 |
| Queso blanco | 120 | 5 | 4 | 9 |
| Guacamole | 230 | 2 | 8 | 22 |
| Chipotle-honey vinaigrette | 220 | 1 | 18 | 16 |
Two things stand out. Chicken gives the most protein for its Calories: 32 g for 180, against 21 g for 150 with steak. And brown rice is not lighter than white rice at Chipotle; both are 210 Calories a portion.
What are the best low calorie high protein bowls at Chipotle?
All totals are our sums of Chipotle’s US figures above. “Lettuce” means romaine as the base.
| Order | Calories | Protein (g) | Carbs (g) | Fat (g) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Lettuce, double chicken, fajita veggies, fresh tomato salsa, green chili salsa | 425 | 65 | 14 | 14 |
| 2. Lettuce, chicken, black beans, fajita veggies, fresh tomato salsa, green chili salsa | 375 | 41 | 36 | 9 |
| 3. Lettuce, barbacoa, pinto beans, fajita veggies, green chili salsa | 340 | 33 | 33 | 9 |
| 4. Lettuce, steak, black beans, fajita veggies, fresh tomato salsa, red chili salsa | 360 | 30 | 37 | 8 |
| 5. Chicken, brown rice, black beans, fajita veggies, fresh tomato salsa, lettuce | 570 | 45 | 68 | 15 |
| 6. Lettuce, sofritas, black beans, fajita veggies, fresh tomato salsa (plant-based) | 330 | 17 | 41 | 12 |
Order 1 counts the double chicken as two standard portions. It is the pick if protein is your main goal. Order 2 is the best all rounder, with beans adding fibre and making the bowl more filling. Order 5 is for days you want rice, for example after a workout.
Sofritas is the plant-based option, but at 8 g of protein a portion it cannot match the meats. If you are vegetarian, adding both black and pinto beans brings the bowl to about 460 Calories and 25 g of protein.
What is on Chipotle’s High Protein Menu?
Chipotle’s US calculator has a separate High Protein menu. These are Chipotle’s own totals, checked 7 October 2026:
| Item | What is in it | Calories | Protein (g) |
|---|---|---|---|
| High Protein Low Calorie Bowl | Chicken, supergreens, fajita veggies, fresh tomato salsa, guacamole | 460 | 35 |
| High Protein High Fiber Bowl | Chicken, light brown rice, black beans, fajita veggies, corn salsa, fresh tomato salsa, lettuce | 545 | 46 |
| Double High Protein Bowl | Double chicken, light white rice, black beans, fajita veggies, fresh tomato salsa, cheese, extra lettuce | 760 | 81 |
| High Protein Cup, Chicken | A side of chicken | 180 | 32 |
| High Protein Cup, Pollo Asado | A side of pollo asado | 220 | 37 |
These are good starting points because the totals are already worked out. Notice the High Protein Low Calorie Bowl includes guacamole, which is half its Calories. Swap the guacamole for green chili salsa and, on the ingredient figures, you save about 215 Calories.
Which Chipotle toppings add the most calories?
The base and protein are rarely the problem. The extras are:
- Guacamole: 230 Calories. Healthy fats, but the single biggest add-on.
- Chipotle-honey vinaigrette: 220 Calories. Served on the side with salads. Use a little, or skip it and let salsa be the dressing.
- Rice: 210 Calories. Fine if it fits your day. Asking for half a scoop is an easy middle ground.
- Queso blanco 120, cheese 110, sour cream 110. Each one is small, but all three together add 340.
A common order of chicken, white rice, black beans, cheese, sour cream, guacamole and corn salsa comes to 1,050 Calories with 57 g of protein. Our Order 2 has 41 g of protein for 375. Same restaurant, same protein, very different total.
Is a Chipotle bowl high in sodium?
It can be. Chipotle’s calculator lists fresh tomato salsa at 550 mg of sodium and chicken at 310 mg. Order 2 adds up to about 1,480 mg, which is a large share of the FDA’s Daily Value of under 2,300 mg for the whole day.
If you are watching salt, pick one salsa instead of two, and choose green chili salsa (260 mg) over fresh tomato salsa. Anyone told to limit sodium for blood pressure or kidney reasons should follow their own doctor’s limit.
Are Chipotle calories different in Canada?
Only a few items, on chipotle.ca checked 7 October 2026. The proteins, rice, beans, salsas, fajita veggies, guacamole and queso blanco match the US numbers. The differences:
| Ingredient | US Calories | Canada Calories |
|---|---|---|
| Sour cream | 110 | 90 |
| Cheese | 110 | 100 |
| Romaine lettuce | 5 | 15 |
So the bowls above come out within about 10 Calories in Canada. If you track in kg, a 4 oz portion of chicken is about 113 g.
How do I fit a Chipotle bowl into my calorie target?
Decide the bowl before you get to the counter. If your daily target is around 1,800 Calories, a 375 Calorie bowl leaves plenty for the rest of the day, while a 1,050 Calorie bowl takes more than half of it. Find your own number with the calorie deficit calculator and your protein goal with the protein calculator. Our guide on how much protein per day explains how the targets are set.
If you take a GLP-1 medicine and struggle to eat much, a protein-first bowl like Order 1 or Order 2 is useful because most of the volume is protein and vegetables. Our post on protein on GLP-1 covers this in more detail.
When you log, list each ingredient rather than “Chipotle bowl”, because one generic entry can be off by hundreds of Calories. If you would rather snap a photo, Calo AI’s free photo calorie calculator gives an estimate, and adding a note like “chicken, black beans, fajita veggies, no rice” makes it more accurate. Portions are the hardest part for any photo tool, so correct the result by voice or text if it looks off. The Calo AI web app and Android app are free to use.
Safety note: if you have diabetes, look at the carbohydrate figures as well as Calories, especially for rice, beans and corn salsa. If you are pregnant, under 18, or have kidney disease, speak to a doctor or registered dietitian before raising your protein intake.
